Books, books and more books

I always like a good meme. So I copied this one from Shmode over at her Frogged blog.

What author do you own the most books by? Most definitely Anne McCaffery, I have the whole Pern series and have collected other books of hers over the years. Hubby introduced me to the Pern books and I loved them. I do have the complete 'The Wheel of Time' series except for the last one that comes out in November, so that is 12 books. I own all of Diana Gabaldon's books the Outlander series and Lord Gray books. I have all of Harry Potter and six of the Wilderness series by Sara Donati.Others that I have many of would be Stephen King, Christopher Pike (would rival my McCaffery collection plus I can't seem to let them go, I was reading them a lot throughout junior and high school) and Judith Krantz.
What book do you own the most copies of?I have two of the same in the Dexter series because they sent me two and Pillar of Creation by Terry Goodkind, one is paperback and I got a hard cover to go with my collection.
Did it bother you that both those questions ended with prepositions? No, grammar doesn't bother me at all.
What fictional character are you secretly in love with? For a long time it was Jamie Fraser from the Outlander series and then I read into the Wilderness and just fell in love with Nathaniel Bonner. I love older rugged men! Of course I love Edward too! I don't care if he's possessive, he's just so perfect, he is written by a woman!
What book have you read the most times in your life (excluding picture books read to children; i.e. Goodnight Moon doesn’t count)I don't know. I've read The Wheel of Time series, The Outlander series, the Pern series and The Sword of Truth series, a few times each but I don't exactly keep count.
What was your favorite book when you were ten years old? Hell, I don't know. I can't remember what I read last year. But I'm going to guess I was into Judy Blume books, I really enjoy Nancy Drew books back then and I'm not sure what else, I read so much my whole life.
What is the worst book you’ve read in the past year? In the past year, I don't think I've read any that I didn't like or love. I'm a picky reader and usually don't read a book unless I've heard it was good from someone. Plus, I haven't read as much as I'd like in the last year so my selection isn't that great as it normally would be minue 3 kids.
What is the best book you’ve read in the past year? I don't know. I've discovered some really great authors in the last year from Phillipa Gregory, Ian McEwan, Stephenie Meyer and P.C/Kirsten Cast, to name a few. I really liked the most recent series I started called A House of Night series by the last authors the Casts. It's a young adult vampyre series, it's fun and quirky.
If you could force everyone you tagged to read one book, what would it be? I'm always telling people to read Into the Wilderness by Sara Donati! It's a historical romance adverture kinda book and it's just awesome.
Who deserves to win the next Nobel Prize for Literature? I have no idea. Sara Donati who's really Rosina Lippi. Yes I love her series.
What book would you most like to see made into a movie?Definitely Into the Wilderness. It would be so beautiful as a movie.
What book would you least like to see made into a movie?Well, a long time ago, I was into reading books off the Oprah's Bookclub list and I read several of the books at the time. One of them was called The Reader and I really hated it! I don't remember why or even what it was about but it got all these reviews. Basically it became the only book I ever hated and now I see that they've made it into a movie and I'm wondering now what I was missing. So I don't know, I might have to see it and decide.
Describe your weirdest dream involving a writer, book, or literary character.Sorry I can't say that I've ever had a dream about a writer, book or literary character. Imay have but just don't remember.
What is the most lowbrow book you’ve read as an adult?I haven't read anything like that, I'm sure.
What is the most difficult book you’ve ever read?Like I said The Reader but there was another from the list that I couldn't finish and that was The Poisonwood Bible, I got about half way through but it was a real struggle to get even that far. I figured at some point in time I would get back to it but it's been several years since that attempt.
What is the most obscure Shakespeare play you’ve seen?I've never seen a Shakespear play, I dont' think I have anyway.
Do you prefer the French or the Russians? What's that supposed to mean?
Roth or Updike?
David Sedaris or Dave Eggers?David Sedaris and I only know him because some woman at a board I go to love him and have posted links to YouTube of him and he's interesting.
Austen or Eliot?I've never read Eliot, so Austen by default.
What is the biggest or most embarrassing gap in your reading?During my years after having kids. I hardly had time to myself after my second was born and even less after the third was born and I'm just now gettting back to my love of books.
What is your favorite novel? I have so many books I love I couldn't just pick one.
Play? Don't know.
Poem?I can only think of Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelo (I don't know if I even spelt that right)
Essay?Not sure.
Short story?I find the Chicken Soup for a soul moving and tear jerking.
Work of nonfiction? I haven't read nonfiction in awhile and I can't think of any right now.
Who is your favorite writer? My favourite writer? Hmmmm. Let me think. I don't have one favorite writer. I've stated above how I have my favorite sereis so my favorite authors would be Robert Jordan for The Wheel of Time series, Anne McCaffery for the Pern series, Sara Donati the Wilderness novels, Diana Gabaldon for the Outland Series, Terry Goodkind for The Sword of Truth series and new PC and Kirsten Cast for the House of Night series. I also really like Holly Lisle for The Secret Text trilogy and Kate Forsythe for The Witches of Eileanean series. Can you tell I like a lot of Fantasy books. I'm sure I have others that I can't think of right now, so if I do think of any others I'll edit this and put them in. Oh, yeah I really like Lincoln Child and Preston Douglas, they've written several books together. I've read a few of the single books but they have a Pendergast series that I'm going to start reading that starts with Relic. I've been meaning to read them for ages but haven't yet. So they are probably next on my list. (Cool idea Shmode to link to the author sites.)
Who is the most overrated writer alive today?Alive? I don't know. I don't like to go outside my reading bubble very often and test out writers unless I have a really good review from someone I know. So I'm not broad enough to have read a lot of mainstream writers.
What is your desert island book? Into the Wilderness by Sara Donati, I just don't get tired of her characters.
What are you reading right now?I'm in the middle of Dawn on a Distant Shore by Sara Donati, it's the sequel to Into the Wilderness, these books got my out of my Twilight cycle.
