Review TIme

Horrid Henry Rocks by Francesca Simon

Horrid Henry is a boy who likes to cause trouble! Especially for his brother Perfect Peter and his neighbour Moody Maggie. Horrid Henry is a small chapter book with four stories each revolving around Horrid Henry's antics. The book is funny and engaging. I don't think I've come across a more imaginative book with all the fun details and everyone has a nick name.
My nine year loved the trouble Henry causes his brother and Maggie and he loved the Killer Rat Boys!
My six year old loves the Killer Rat Boys as well and loves the tricks played on Perfect Peter!
As you can see boys love this book!

Hailey Twitch and the Campground Itch by Lauren Barnholdt

Well my boys refused to read this one since it was 'for girls"! So I'm on my own for this one.
Hailey Twitch is a seven year old girl in Grade 2 who has an imaginary sprite with magical powers.
9 year old: Did you say magical?
Me: Ummm. Yes I did.
6yo: Did you say sprite Mom? What's a sprite Mom?
Me: Yes I did and a sprite is a fairy.
6 yo: Cool! Maybe it's not so bad after all!
Yup, so they enjoyed the book and thought it was funny!
So anyway....
Usually this sprite doesn't have her powers but during this book she is given a reprieve and has a chance to practice with her magic and this is the beginning of all the mayhem.
Hailey and her family and a few friends go on a camping trip and Maybelle, the sprite goes along as well. Oh and you should know that only Hailey can see Maybelle.  Maybelle has a few problems with her magic and she has all kinds of mishaps trying to use it, usually to the detriment to someone else and sometimes getting Hailey into trouble.
It's a funny and entertaining book for children to read and enjoy. I would definitely recommend it!
