Review: The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes

Beatrice Bottomwell never made mistakes, she was nine and that's old to never have made a mistake until one day she almost makes a mistake. She is worried, what would happen if she were to make a mistake? We will find out!
In a society where everyone is trying to be perfect, our children some how think they also need to be perfect and at times its hard to make them see that mistakes are perfectly natural and great learning experiences. This book explores the answer to that question.
My ten year old understood, as he sometimes hates making mistakes and wants to be perfect at everything. This book helped him to think about that, about wanting and being perfect all the time. If he never made mistakes then how would he have fun because sometimes when you are having fun and being silly mistakes can get made. So yes sometimes it's fun to make mistakes.
My younger kids loved the book and had many giggles from some of the antics in the story. The loved the juggling, hamster and the mistakes! So it was enjoy by all in our little family.
The book was fun and easy to read to the kids and they had many questions and lots of pictures to look at and ask more questions about. They also liked the little brother!

Bruschetta

Bruschetta is one item that both Marcel and I love to make and eat together.

My Mom brought us a bunch of small tomatoes. They are super sweet and
delicious. But to many for us to eat.

We make in on the fly.
Tomatoes
Onions, I like red.
Feta cheese crumbled up.
Garlic
Italian Spices
Crusty bread. (I picked up this whole wheat loaf this time and it was good).
We sprinkle on some grated cheese.
Broil for a bit and voila!

Tomatoy goodness.

Filing Cabinet Redo.

A little over a week ago I picked up this free filing cabinet. I've been wanting a large filing cabinet for sometime but I just couldn't justify the expense. So when the opportunity presented itself I jumped at the chance. It need a new paint job for sure. It was beige and painted white on all sides except the back. So I got my old trusty spray paint out and voila!

I used a gloss black and a Krylon Gloss Watermelon.
I'd like to do some sort of design on the front of each drawer but I'm not sure what yet!

The Paper Mama Photo Challenge: Red

It's almost impossible to coordinate four kids to pose for a photograph. This was the best one!

Here I am and it's 5:30am. I've been up for an hour already.Gosh, not sure what is going on with me. The last few nights I have gone to bed super early before 10:30 and then last night I turned out the light just after 9:30 I just couldn't keep my eyes open anymore, so now here I am.

We've been busy. I've been changing the house around and Marcel has been building me a shed. I really can't wait except my back has been sore the last two days and moving stuff into the shed may be difficult with a sore back. Luckily my Husband has a dolly to use. So he should be getting it done today. Fingers crossed.  I'm so excited! I've been wanting a shed for years now.

Life has been pretty busy but not as hectic some days. I love that the boys are maturing and getting along better, not that it's perfect but much better. I'm pleased with the progress they are all making and we as parents are making. So life is good right now.

It's been some time since I've felt at peace. Most days I feel like I'm in a good spot and there are still days when I think about my Dad and it hurts. I don't cry as often so that is a good thing. While I'm feeling better, my house has never looked so good and getting better everyday. I'm getting back to myself, to my ways that I have missed. It's nice.

I still have some to go. I'm still finding it difficult to get back to an exercise routine but I have been losing weight through diet right now so that is a plus as well. It's slow progress right now but I've only been back at it a couple of weeks, okay really, I just started being real with week and yesterday wasn't a good day for eating since my son wanted greek food and we had cake. I'm back to it today though.

Happy Birthday my Son!

I have struggled being his parent and not because he's a bad kid but because I had to look at how I was parenting. He's taught me a lot over the years. I thought becoming a parent would be so easy, Marcel and I are pretty easygoing and laid back and I expected our children to be this way as well. It's not the case at all!
Right away we were fraught with eczema and then allergies, unknown things like cold urticaria. Talk about frustrating and scary and feeling helpless.
So I think his behaviours stem from some of that, plus all the needles and testing. He's terrified of needles. Try getting his blood-work down! Dang! He has sensory issues as well and he learns differently. You think he's not paying attention to you but then afterward he knows what you were saying. Too weird.
All that aside he's taught me how to challenge myself, question myself and strive to be a better mother to this boy who won't go inside a box.
He's so smart, we learned this early and this comes with it's challenges too! He's so imaginative and creative and I love that about him. He gets to interested in things and learns everything about them. He's really into Pokemon right now and I can't believe how he remembers the names of all the characters and there are tons of them. Kids eh?
He wants to be an actor or a director. He's very much into film and the creative process. He has so many ideas and everyday he is telling me something new and exciting about his characters or his stories. He amazes me everyday.
This boy of mine taught me how to really love and open up my heart. I just really can't express how much I am in awe of my son.
Plus. I can't believe that I have a 10 year old. Time sure flies.

Refurbished Chair

A couple of weekends ago I took the boys to do a dump run. We were clearing about crap from around the yard, broken toys, a broken love seat. The have a section at the dump called the free store. Perfectly good things. The kids always come home with too many toys that always end up back there. While there I spotted this chair. It was sturdy and I thought I could totally redo this chair.
So I brought it home.

Washed and sanded.

Spray painted.

Redid the seat.
There were a lot of staple to take out, only took half and hour and my thumb was real sore after.
I found some great red burlap at the Thrift Store on Saturday and knew it was perfect for the chair.
The only problem is the back was soaked through, the board was rotten inside.
So now I have to wait until my Husband has time to cut a new board for me. He's building our shed right now.

I have tons of this red burlap now and I don't know what to do with it all.

One project I found on Pinterest.
I am going to give it a try.

Camping

A few weeks ago we went camping with some dear friends. My family ended up only staying one night, it was tiring and stressful with four kids to look after. We woke (I use that term loosely as I didn't sleep a wink)up the next day to rain. We added to the need to go home since we were not prepared for once for the wetness. We stopped at the interpretive center where my brother works. I wish it were a nicer day to enjoy the views. It's so beautiful up the Dempster. We may have to make a day trip next weekend to get more pictures.
