Review: The Last Days of Lacuna Cabal by Sean Dixon

First off I have to say that I didn’t know what to expect from this book. The cover makes it sound interesting and you know a journey will take place. What I didn’t expect was to be dragged in by the often flawed and often entertaining characters.Add Video They are all flawed in someway but that comes from their being still young and finding their place in the world. I often wasn’t sure of the age of the characters until it was mentioned but they seemed older and wiser in some instances because of their past experiences and their own lives. I think the author did an exceptional job of creating and bringing these characters to life.

As a reader of many genres, I’ve always had a keen interest in history of any kind so when the Oldest Story is introduced, I was intrigued and couldn’t wait to read more of this lost story. The back and forth of the novel from the present to how the story is read really added to the storytelling as did some of the improbable and sometimes out of the blue situations that happened.

The narration from the viewpoints of two of the members of the book club added even more to the text. This book at quotes and footnotes and passages from the Oldest Story, dialogue that was easy to follow because of the narrators and their honesty in telling of the Last Days of The Lacuna Cabal. I was highly entertained and thoroughly enjoying reading this book and I can’t wait for another book from this author.
