A Lot On My Mind Lately

My Dad is my rock, he always has been. Growing up with him, he may have been tough and made mistakes but he did things, we shared interests in books, history and I loved spending time with him. Through the years we always talked the subjects that interested both of us and the last few years it's been gardening bringing us together. I always go to him for advice on my garden.

The last few years have been tough for him, he had a triple bypass two or three years ago. He's had a plethora of health issues the last twenty years or so, taking pills for this or that. His health improved for awhile and he lost weight. This past year he's been ill and of course being a guy never complained or went to a doctor. We learned in the last couple of months that he might have cancer and then they confirmed it and then we were told it was Stage 4 small cell lung cancer. Stage 4 being that its already spread from the lungs to vital organs and the blood stream. It's scary stuff.

He was given chemotherapy last week, so now he's sick. My Mom told me that it's only to prolong his life but my Dad, he seems optimistic and I think he's going to fight this as much as he can.

So now I'll spend as much time with him as I can and hope he enjoys that time with me and my sons.

Thanks Amanda. Once he's back in a few days I'll be visiting a lot.
